Trump: 'We are taking control, their navies are gone'
In a statement from the Oval Office, U.S. President Donald Trump claimed that they are ensuring maritime security in the Strait of Hormuz and that an average of 30 ships pass through each night under the escort of the U.S. Navy. Targeting Iran with harsh words, Trump stated, "I don't even think they know who their leaders are."

Speaking to reporters in the Oval Office, Trump said, "We are keeping the Strait of Hormuz in extremely good shape. You know, we are taking control."
"A large number of ships passed through last night. As you know, with the help of the Navy, an average of 30 ships can pass through per night. That is a lot, and a large amount of oil is being extracted. That is why you see that oil prices have not reached the expected levels."
"Their navies are gone"
Trump also described Iran as a "failed nation," citing its 350% inflation, the lack of a functioning currency, and the difficulties in paying salaries to Iranian soldiers.
"They are a failed nation. Their inflation is 350%. They have no currency. They are not paying their soldiers. Most of their leaders are dead. Their navies are gone. Their air force is gone. Almost all of their surveillance equipment is gone, but that doesn't mean we won't strike them. We will see what happens."
Stating that Iran's leadership structure is unclear, Trump said, "I don't even think they know who their leaders are."
