Trump's 'Epstein' move against Democrats

Using the phrase, "Jeffrey Epstein and I had a very bad relationship for years," Trump stated that Democratic figures should be examined. Trump directed his criticism by saying, "There are 'Epstein' Democrats. If you are going to open the files, you need to investigate Epstein's friends. Bill Clinton, the President of Harvard, executives of major banks, big donors, they should all be on the table." He also recalled the allegation that Bill Clinton made numerous flights to the island, saying, "I never went to that island; it is said that Bill Clinton went 28 times."

JAY CLAYTON TO HEAD THE NEW INVESTIGATION

Announcing that the person who will lead the Epstein investigation is Jay Clayton, Trump described him as an "impartial and strong prosecutor," noting that Clayton previously served as SEC chairman. He stated that he was a suitable person for the task, saying, "Jay Clayton is a real legal talent. He is one of the most respected people in the country regarding law and law enforcement. He will handle this in the Southern District." Rejecting claims that the investigation is politically motivated, Trump said, "This is not about the election... I have the right to give such an order."

DEBATE OVER EPSTEIN DOCUMENTS IN CONGRESS

Trump also touched on the issue of fully releasing the Epstein documents, which was brought to the agenda by some Republicans in Congress. When reminded of Marjorie Taylor Greene's pressure, he said he was open to the release of the documents but that the debate was being conducted by Democrats as a "distraction move."
