U.S. President Trump answered questions from the press regarding the Russia-Ukraine War and other issues following the swearing-in ceremony of Dr. Mehmet Oz as the Director of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
Trump evaluated the statement by U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who suggested that a Russia-Ukraine deal should be completed within days, otherwise the U.S. would "move on."
"We want to handle this quickly; there is no specific number of days, but we want to see this war end quickly. Russia-Ukraine talks are currently nearing a conclusion. We have a really good chance of making this deal," said Trump, sending a message that both sides need to take steps to reach an agreement.
Stating what the U.S. expects from Moscow and Kyiv, Trump noted that he needs to see a "desire" for a peace deal from both sides, and that he is seeing that desire.
In response to a question about "under what circumstances they might completely withdraw from Russia-Ukraine talks," Trump said, "I don't want to say that right now. We want to see this war end."
When asked, "Is Russia playing you?" the U.S. President replied, "Nobody is playing me."
"I AM HERE TO PREVENT IRAN FROM HAVING NUCLEAR WEAPONS"
On the other hand, regarding a question about the status of direct talks with Iran, Trump said, "I am here to prevent Iran from having nuclear weapons."
Stating that he wants Iran to develop but that it cannot possess nuclear weapons, Trump assessed, "Iran cannot have nuclear weapons; if they have nuclear weapons, you will all be very unhappy and your lives will be in great danger."
"TALKS WITH CHINA ARE GOING WELL"
Meanwhile, Trump expressed that the talks with China regarding customs tariffs are proceeding "really very well."
As Trump continued his speech, cameras captured the moment when a young woman in the Oval Office fainted and fell to the floor, leading to the press members in the room being escorted out.
