Trump's nominee for Federal Communications Commission chair announced
U.S. President-elect Donald Trump has announced that he is nominating Brendan Carr, who currently serves as a Republican commissioner at the agency, to lead the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).

Donald Trump announced in a written statement that he is nominating Brendan Carr to head the FCC, the agency that manages mass communication and local media regulations in the country.
Trump noted that Carr, who has long served within the FCC, is an excellent candidate for the position and recalled that he had previously been confirmed by the Senate unanimously three times.
Stating that he also nominated Carr for the FCC when he took office in 2017 and that he did successful work after being confirmed, Trump emphasized that he trusts Carr again in this field.
The FCC, which is occasionally part of political debates because it is the agency that regulates the licenses of local media channels in the U.S., had been on the agenda, particularly in discussions regarding whether the licenses of local affiliates of some national channels targeted by Trump would be renewed.
It had been stated that Carr looks favorably upon the acquisition of some nationwide broadband internet provider companies by American billionaire businessman Elon Musk, who supports Trump.
