Trump's striking assessments on the global situation: Are the wars in Ukraine and Gaza ending?

The 47th US President-elect Donald Trump made assessments regarding the global agenda. Having previously stated that he would meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Trump expressed that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is 'ready for peace talks.' On the other hand, the new US President also shared his views on the future of the ceasefire in Gaza and his country's relations with North Korea.

Starting his day in the Oval Office by signing new executive orders, Trump responded to questions from members of the press following his new decisions. The US President later gave an interview to Fox News to evaluate the international agenda.

THE WAR BETWEEN UKRAINE AND RUSSIA

Trump underscored that if Russia does not come to the negotiating table with Ukraine, he would impose serious sanctions and tariffs on the country.

Reiterating his view that former President Joe Biden and his administration had 'a lot of influence' in the prolongation of the war in Ukraine, Trump emphasized that 'if they had not provided so many weapons to Ukraine, this war could have been ended earlier.'

Blaming Putin for attacking Ukraine, Trump said, 'Putin should never have done this. This war needs to end now. The Russians have lost 850 thousand soldiers, and the Ukrainians have lost 700 thousand.'

The US President added the following to his remarks on the subject:

'I don't want to do this; the Russian people are a great people, I love the Russians. But this war must end. (Ukrainian President Volodymyr) Zelenskyy also wants to make a deal.'

In the war between Russia and Ukraine, both sides had avoided giving clear information about their losses until now. If Trump's statements are accurate, at least 1 million 450 thousand people have died in the war so far.

Emphasizing that the Russia-Ukraine war is a 'senseless war' and should end as soon as possible, Trump stated:

'I hear that Putin wants to meet with me as soon as possible. I will meet immediately. A battlefield like this has not been seen since the Second World War. It would be nice to end this war.'

Responding to a question about whether Ukrainian President Zelenskyy is ready for negotiations, Trump noted the following:

'Zelenskyy is ready to negotiate a deal that will stop this war. Both Ukraine and Russia have lost too many soldiers.'

Arguing that China has a certain influence and power over Russia, Trump emphasized that Chinese President Xi Jinping should also use this influence to end the war.

Cooperation between Russia and China has increased since the beginning of the war in Ukraine. While China has been making economic investments in regions in eastern Russia, the Russian army has also started importing ammunition and military technology from China.

NEW TALKS BETWEEN NORTH KOREA AND THE US ON THE AGENDA

US President Donald Trump also announced that he would get in touch with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un. In June 2019, Trump met with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un in the 'demilitarized zone' that divides the peninsula into North and South Korea, shook hands, and became the first US President to set foot on North Korean soil.

In his interview with Fox News, when asked whether he would contact North Korean leader Kim, Trump replied, 'I will get in touch with him again.'

Trump used the expressions, '(Kim) He is a smart man. Kim Jong-un is a smart man. He likes me and I get along well with him.'

WHAT IS THE FUTURE OF THE CEASEFIRE IN GAZA?

When asked about his statement that he was not sure about the continuation of the ceasefire in Gaza, Trump stated that the ceasefire agreement is currently 'going well.'

Continuing his speech, Trump said, '(Gaza) It is a difficult and tricky place. Let me say this, if something happens, they will not be happy.'

Furthermore, it was reported that Trump's Middle East Special Envoy Steve Witkoff would visit Israel to discuss the second phase of the ceasefire agreement reached between Tel Aviv and Hamas in the Gaza Strip.

According to the terms of the ceasefire declared in Gaza, Hamas and Israel will begin negotiations for a permanent ceasefire in the '2nd phase.'

HOUTHIS BACK ON THE TERROR LIST

In response to a question, Trump also evaluated the re-addition of the Houthis to the list of foreign terrorist organizations.

Noting that the Houthis have been hitting ships belonging to the US and other countries and that this is unacceptable, he stated that the Houthis were added back to the list for this reason.

The American President also commented on the 600 billion dollar investment that Saudi Arabia is stated to make in the US, saying, 'I might ask them for 1 trillion (dollars) in investment. If they do that, I would be happy to visit there.'

The Houthis in Yemen had declared war following the genocide Israel started in Gaza and began targeting ships trading with Israel in the Red Sea.
