The Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) issued a warning for the Pacific Ocean coast following an earthquake that occurred in the morning, the magnitude of which has not yet been announced.
Accordingly, a tsunami warning has been issued for 12 districts in Chiba, east of Tokyo, as well as the Ogasawara Islands, the Izu Islands, and the prefectures of Kochi and Miyazaki.
The warning, which noted that waves of varying heights could strike coastal areas multiple times, urged local residents to stay away from beaches and river mouths.
