Turkish Ambassador to Malta Erdeniz Şen passes away

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a condolence message following the passing of Şen, who had served in the foreign service for many years. The ministry's message stated, "We are deeply saddened by the loss on May 19, 2025, of our esteemed colleague Erdeniz Şen, who had been serving in our Ministry since 1996 and represented our state as the Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Malta. We wish God's mercy upon the deceased and extend our condolences to his grieving family."

WHO IS ERDENİZ ŞEN?

Ambassador Erdeniz Şen was born on July 12, 1974, in Ankara. He graduated from the Ankara University Faculty of Political Sciences in 1996.

He served in various units of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which he joined that same year. Most recently, he served as Ambassador and Deputy Director General for Foreign Policy Coordination at the ministry's headquarters. Ambassador Şen also held various positions at the Presidency and the Office of the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey.

Abroad, he held various positions at the Embassies of the Republic of Turkey in Bahrain, Rome, and Washington. Most recently, he served as the Consul General of the Republic of Turkey in Toronto.

Ambassador Şen attended the NATO Defense College Senior Course and completed his master's degree in the Department of International Relations at Gazi University. He was currently a doctoral student at the Ankara University Faculty of Political Sciences.

Erdeniz Şen was appointed as the Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Valletta on December 9, 2022, and presented his Letter of Credence to the President of Malta, Mr. George Vella, on February 23, 2023.

Ambassador Şen was married to Deniz Şahinbaş Şen and was the father of Lara and Arda.
