Turkish Armed Forces' mission duration in Azerbaijan extended

The Turkish Armed Forces (TSK)'s mission duration in Azerbaijan was extended by one year following the approval of the presidential memorandum in the Turkish Grand National Assembly. The decision was published in today's Official Gazette.
''DECISION MADE TO EXTEND THE AUTHORIZATION PERIOD BY ONE YEAR''
The decision is as follows:
"In order to fulfill the commitments arising from the provisions of the strategic partnership and mutual assistance agreement between the Republic of Türkiye and the Republic of Azerbaijan, to observe the ceasefire, prevent violations, ensure peace and stability in the region, and effectively protect and safeguard Türkiye's high interests, the Turkish Armed Forces are authorized to be sent to foreign countries to act in line with the duties of the joint center, with the scope, extent, quantity, and timing to be determined by the President; the use of these forces according to the principles set by the President; and the taking of all necessary measures to eliminate risks and threats, as well as the arrangements to facilitate these, shall be determined by the President."
In accordance with Article 92 of the Constitution, a decision was made to extend the duration of the authorization granted by the Turkish Grand National Assembly's decision dated November 17, 2020, and numbered 1272, which was most recently extended by the Turkish Grand National Assembly's decision dated November 1, 2022, and numbered 1348, for one year starting from November 17, 2023.
