Turkish soldier serving in NATO passes away
NATO's Kosovo Force (KFOR) has announced that a Turkish soldier serving within its ranks has passed away.

In a written statement issued by KFOR, it was reported that the Turkish soldier, who was serving in the Gjilan Liaison Monitoring Team, passed away in his sleep.
The statement noted that the cause of the Turkish soldier's death has not yet been confirmed.
The statement also included a message of condolence from KFOR Commander Major General Özkan Ulutaş.
"WE WILL HONOR HIS MEMORY"
In his message, Ulutaş stated, "I extend my deepest condolences for this tragic loss. My thoughts are with the family members and friends of the deceased soldier.
His loss is felt throughout the entire KFOR community. We will honor his memory with our unwavering commitment to KFOR's mission."
In KFOR, which began its mission in Kosovo on June 12, 1999, in accordance with the United Nations Security Council resolution to ensure security and stability, there are over 4,500 international military personnel from 27 countries, including 21 NATO members and 6 non-NATO partner countries.
Turkey took over the command of KFOR for one year on October 10, 2023.
