Two drones crash on Finnish border, one confirmed to belong to that country

Two unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) of unknown origin crashed in the vicinity of the city of Kouvola in Finland during the morning hours. In a statement made by the Ministry of Defense, it was noted that after several objects were detected in the country's airspace, UAVs crashed at two different points in areas near Kouvola.
While security forces have launched a large-scale investigation in the region, police and military officials have begun an inquiry to determine which country the UAVs belong to. Defense Minister Antti Hakkanen emphasized in a statement on social media that the UAVs violated Finnish territory, stating, "We are taking the matter very seriously. Security authorities have taken immediate action. The investigation into the incident is ongoing, and further information will be provided once the details are confirmed."
On the same day, Finnish Prime Minister Petteri Orpo also stated that efforts regarding the origin of the drones were continuing, noting that authorities were evaluating all findings.
Finnish President Alexander Stubb, in a post on his social media account, stated, "It has been confirmed that one of the UAVs belongs to Ukraine," adding that there was no military threat. Stubb further remarked, "We are monitoring the situation closely. Authorities are prepared to respond to future incidents. Finland is ready to monitor and protect its territory."
Similar incidents have occurred in Finland's neighboring countries as well. Last week, some Ukrainian drones that had exited Russian airspace crashed on the borders of Estonia and Latvia, causing damage to the Auvere power plant in Estonia. Additionally, a drone crash was recorded in Lithuania in a region near the Belarusian border.
Authorities are focusing on the possibility that most of these cases emerging in recent days may be UAVs that took off from Ukraine and went off course while aiming to strike Russian targets. Following the developments, it was announced that additional measures in airspace surveillance and border security have been implemented in Finland.
