FIRST STATEMENT FROM DONALD TRUMP
U.S. President Donald Trump made a statement on his Truth Social account regarding the shooting of the two National Guard soldiers in Washington. Describing the suspect who carried out the attack as an "animal," Trump noted that the attacker was also critically injured, stating, "Regardless, he will pay a very heavy price."
In his post, Trump recalled that the two critically injured National Guard members were receiving treatment at different hospitals and reiterated his support for security forces.
According to a subsequent statement regarding the guards who were attacked, the two National Guard members have lost their lives.
Following the attack, U.S. President Trump requested that the Secretary of War deploy 500 additional National Guard members.
