Ukraine announces it has struck Russia's largest oil refinery, Omsk, with drones

Ukraine has announced that it targeted the Omsk Refinery, known as Russia's largest oil refinery, with unmanned aerial vehicles. The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that a fire broke out at the facility, which is located deep in Siberia near the border with Kazakhstan, following the attack.
According to the statement, the Omsk Refinery is located approximately 2,700 kilometers from the Ukrainian border. For this reason, the attack is considered one of the longest-range operations reported to have been carried out by Ukraine since the beginning of the war.
Omsk Regional Governor Vitaliy Khotsenko, without naming the refinery, said that a large number of Ukrainian drones had reached the "northern industrial zone of Omsk." Khotsenko stated that the damage is being assessed and that emergency teams are continuing their work in the area.
ENERGY INFRASTRUCTURE UNDER FIRE
The Ukrainian military reported that it also targeted the Ust-Luga and Vysotsk ports, which are used for Russia's oil exports via the Baltic Sea, on the same night. It was reported that attacks were also carried out in the Kaluga and Yaroslavl regions, and that the incidents in these regions were confirmed by local governors.
It is stated that the Omsk Refinery, owned by Gazprom Neft, processed approximately 23 million metric tons of oil last year. This amount corresponds to approximately 460 thousand barrels per day. While Ukraine has recently increased its attacks on oil refineries in Russia, mutual attacks on energy infrastructure have become one of the key fronts of the war.
