In line with the decision taken by the IMF Executive Board, the amount Ukraine has utilized from its current financing package has reached 10.1 billion dollars. The institution's official statement noted that the 15.5 billion dollar program was approved on March 31, 2023.
With the completion of the review, a payment of approximately 400 million dollars is expected to be made to Ukraine. It was stated that the program aims to support economic recovery, improve governance, and strengthen institutions to promote Ukraine's long-term growth. It was reported that the total payment under the financing package will rise to 10.1 billion dollars.
The primary objectives of the financing package include the restructuring of the Ukrainian economy, the improvement of governance mechanisms, and the strengthening of institutional capacity. IMF officials anticipate that this support will contribute to the country's long-term economic growth.
EMPHASIS ON ECONOMIC STABILITY
Officials from the Ukrainian Ministry of Finance announced that this funding from the IMF will be used to cover the budget deficit and maintain essential public services. The payments are expected to help maintain economic stability under the conditions of the country's ongoing war with Russia.
The IMF's representative for Ukraine stated that the program's performance criteria have been largely met. It was emphasized that the progress made by the Ukrainian government in fiscal policies and structural reforms has made the new resource allocation possible.
Economic experts point out that IMF support strengthens Ukraine's reputation in international financial markets. The eighth review of the program is planned to take place in June.
