Ukrainian UAVs strike Shaturskaya Power Plant

The Shaturskaya State District Power Plant near Moscow was targeted by a drone attack carried out by Ukrainian forces. The fire, which was brought under control in a short time, did not cause any power outages across the region.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine targeted the Shaturskaya State District Power Plant located in the Moscow region, carrying out an attack on the facility. Regional authorities announced that the fire that broke out following the attack was extinguished quickly.

ATTACK TOOK PLACE IN THE MORNING HOURS

The attack carried out with UAVs occurred around 07:00 in the morning. Local residents reported hearing successive explosions, followed by flashes of light and flames rising in the direction of the power plant. Officials stated that air defense units shot down multiple unmanned aerial vehicles, but a fire broke out after some debris hit the facility area. It has not yet been clarified whether "drone" UAVs were involved in the attack.

DRONE DEBRIS SET TRANSFORMERS ON FIRE

The Ministry of Emergency Situations announced that falling drone debris caused a fire in four transformers. It was noted that the fire has been brought under control, there were no power outages across the city, and backup lines were quickly activated. Cooling efforts are reported to be ongoing in the area.

GOVERNOR VOROBYOV: THE SITUATION IS UNDER CONTROL

Moscow Regional Governor Andrey Vorobyov confirmed the attack on the Shaturskaya State District Power Plant and stated the following:

“This morning, a UAV attack was carried out on the Shaturskaya State District Power Plant. Some of the UAVs were destroyed by air defense forces, and a few fell onto the power plant grounds. The fire that broke out at the facility has been brought under control, and emergency teams are continuing their work. The situation is under control, and there is no threat to the residents of the region.”

TWO UAVS HAD BEEN SHOT DOWN DURING THE NIGHT

The Ministry of Defense had previously announced that two Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles were neutralized over the Moscow region during the night.
