The Gaza Report prepared by the United Nations (UN) Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights has been published. According to the report, a total of 34,500 people were killed in the first 6 months of Israel's attacks on Gaza. The identities of 8,119 of these individuals could not be verified.
The report, which notes that the majority of those identified consist of women and children, the youngest of whom was a one-day-old baby, warns that "widespread or systematic" attacks against civilians could constitute "crimes against humanity" and "genocide."
In the OHCHR's Gaza Report, which covers the period from November 1, 2023, to April 30, 2024, it was reported that the number of civilians killed in the first six months of Israel's war in Gaza was 34,500, and that 8,119 of these had been identified. According to the report, women and children make up the vast majority of the civilians who died and were identified. The report also stated that 80 percent of all confirmed deaths in Gaza occurred during Israeli attacks on residential buildings or similar structures.
