UN Emergency Relief Coordinator Martin Griffiths issued a written statement following his two-day assessment in Israel and the occupied Palestinian territories.
''THIS IS THE LATEST ATROCITY TO BEFALL THE PEOPLE OF GAZA''
Pointing to the urgent humanitarian situation in the region, Griffiths stated, "Reports of many civilians killed following the latest attacks on the Jabalia Refugee Camp in Gaza. This is just the latest atrocity to befall the people of Gaza, where the fighting has entered an even more terrifying phase, with increasingly horrific humanitarian consequences."
Griffiths emphasized that the families of the more than 1,400 people who lost their lives on the Israeli side and the more than 200 hostages "continue to live in pain," while in Gaza, civilians, "including women and children," are being "bombed to death."
''THE PEOPLE OF GAZA ARE BEING BOMBED TO DEATH''
Stating that October 7 and its aftermath have left "indelible marks" on the lives of millions of people, Griffiths said, "In Gaza, women, children and men are being starved, traumatized and bombed to death. They (the people of Gaza) have lost all faith in humanity and all hope for the future. Their despair is palpable."
