Guterres released a video message for the new year.

Reminding that the world is in danger due to climate change and that 2023 was the hottest year on record, Guterres noted that people are also suffering from poverty and hunger.

Antonio Guterres pointed out that blaming or targeting anyone is of no use, saying, "Humanity is strongest when we stand together. 2024 must be a year for rebuilding trust and hope."

Underlining that solutions must be produced by overcoming differences, Guterres emphasized the importance of taking action, particularly in areas such as climate, the economy, and the fight against discrimination.

Using the expression, "2023 has been a year of enormous suffering, violence, and climate chaos. Humanity is suffering," Guterres noted that the UN will continue to strive for peace, sustainable development, and human rights.
