The United Nations (UN) has warned against the risk of regional escalation following the attack on an American base on the Syria-Jordan border and US President Joe Biden pointing to Iran as responsible.

UN Spokesperson Stephane Dujarric spoke on the matter during his daily press briefing. Expressing deep concern over the activity in the region, Dujarric stated that this increases the risk of tensions spreading. Dujarric remarked, "The spread of tension is the last thing we want to see."
US President Biden had convened the National Security Council three times in the last two days regarding the attack on the American base on the Syria-Jordan border over the weekend, evaluating how his country would respond to this attack.
Holding Iran indirectly responsible for the attack on the US base because it "supplied the weapons," Biden had stated, "I don't think we need a wider war in the Middle East, that's not what I'm looking for."
