Uncensored satellite images emerge: Destruction in Gaza exposed on Israel’s mapping service! They deleted them in a hurry...

Satellite images, which were reportedly published uncensored for a short time on Israel’s official mapping service GovMap, have made the heavy destruction in the northern Gaza Strip and several military sites belonging to the Israeli army visible.

Following the appearance of high-resolution 2025 images of previously blurred areas in the system, the loss of structures, particularly around Beit Hanoun and Beit Lahia, drew attention. It was reported that the relevant areas were blurred again after the images were noticed.

DESTRUCTION AND MILITARY SITES IN NORTHERN GAZA

It is noted that GovMap previously blurred satellite images of the entire Gaza Strip, as well as military bases within Israel and certain sensitive areas in the occupied West Bank. However, in the images uploaded to the system without censorship, it was seen that some settlements in northern Gaza had largely turned into fields of rubble.

It was reported that a significant portion of structures in Beit Hanoun and Beit Lahia, which have been targets of intense bombardment and ground operations since October 2023, have disappeared, and that new areas for military purposes have been created in some regions.

The images also allegedly show at least 11 military sites within a military buffer zone created by the Israeli army in Gaza. Areas where military vehicles are stationed around eastern Jabalia, earthen barriers, and some former border crossings in eastern Gaza that are said to be used for military purposes were also identified in the images.

IMAGES CENSORED AGAIN

It was reported that the high-resolution records on GovMap were removed and the relevant areas were blurred again after users working in the field of open-source intelligence noticed the images. It remains unclear whether the uncensored images were published as a result of a new policy or a technical error.

Among the claims is that the images were backed up by some researchers and transferred to satellite imagery analysis platforms before they were removed. Previous open-source investigations had also alleged that there were numerous Israeli military points throughout Gaza.

The emerging picture also aligns with the assessments of international organizations regarding the destruction in Gaza. According to the United Nations Satellite Centre’s June 2026 assessment, 82 percent of approximately 201,000 structures in Gaza have been damaged; more than 134,000 structures have been completely destroyed.

The Gaza Damage and Needs Assessment, published by the United Nations, the European Union, and the World Bank in April 2026, also stated that more than 371,000 housing units were damaged or destroyed. While the report drew attention to the heavy damage to health, education, trade, and agricultural infrastructure, it was stated that approximately 1.9 million people have been displaced and that the reconstruction need for the next 10 years is at the level of 71.4 billion dollars.

According to data from the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza dated September 24, 2026, 73,928 Palestinians have lost their lives and 175,030 people have been injured since October 7, 2023. The Ministry announced that since the ceasefire that came into effect in October 2025, 1,408 people have died, 4,916 people have been injured, and 834 bodies have been recovered from under the rubble.
