Israel's attacks on the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) continue. Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani stated in a press release that an unexploded artillery shell had hit a base of the Italian contingent serving in UNIFIL.

In a statement issued by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it was noted that Tajani spoke with his Israeli counterpart Gideon Saar and protested Israel's attacks on UNIFIL personnel and infrastructure. Tajani emphasized that the safety of soldiers in UNIFIL must be ensured and that the attacks are “unacceptable.”

UNIFIL, for its part, stated that deliberate attacks on peacekeeping soldiers are a grave violation of humanitarian law.
