UNICEF's Libya Office issued a written statement on the occasion of the "International Day for Mine Awareness and Assistance in Mine Action" on April 4.

The statement, which noted that 9 children lost their lives in Libya in 2023 due to the detonation of landmines and unexploded ordnance, emphasized that practical steps must be taken urgently regarding this issue.

It was reported that UNICEF provided education on the dangers of unexploded ordnance in Libya to 150 thousand people through radio and print media, and directly to 39 thousand children.
