Philippe Lazzarini, Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), has made statements regarding Gaza.
Philippe Lazzarini, Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), stated, “No words can describe the horror experienced by the people in Gaza since the war began 6 months ago.”
Criticizing Israel’s unprecedented attacks on hospitals and UN buildings in disregard of international humanitarian law, Lazzarini stated, “This war has been made much worse by technologies used to cause mass harm to people.”
Lazzarini noted that the famine resulting from the siege imposed by Israel has further worsened the situation.
Calling for the immediate release of all hostages in Gaza and the immediate implementation of a ceasefire, Lazzarini stated that Israel must open more land crossings and lift all restrictions on UNRWA without further delay.
