Speaking to the British news agency Reuters, a Pakistani official stated that following Pakistan's request, Israel removed Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf from its assassination list and did not target the two high-level figures in attacks.

The official said, "The Israelis had the coordinates and wanted to take them out. We told the US that if they are also taken out, there will be no one left to talk to, so the US asked the Israelis to step back."

The Pakistani administration has been involved in mediation efforts between the US and Iran, and had also proposed that potential talks be held in the capital, Islamabad.
