The Houthis announced that 3 regions in the coastal area of Hodeidah province in western Yemen were struck by the US and the UK.
According to a report on the Houthi-affiliated Al-Masirah television, two attacks were carried out against the Taif area in the Ad-Durayhimi district of Hodeidah.
The report also stated that multiple attacks were conducted against the Kusib and Al-Jabbana areas in Hodeidah, noting that the strikes were carried out by the US and the UK.
According to Yemeni media, a Houthi naval base is located in the Kusib area, and an air base is located in Al-Jabbana.
Hodeidah, located on Yemen's Red Sea coast, is significant due to its long coastline and the presence of 3 of the country's major ports.
WHAT HAPPENED?
In response to Israel's attacks on Gaza, the Houthis began seizing commercial ships they claimed were linked to Israeli companies off the coast of Yemen on October 31, 2023, and launched drone and missile attacks against some of them.
During this period, US forces announced multiple times that they had shot down missiles and kamikaze drones launched from Yemen.
Following the Houthis' actions, numerous shipping companies decided to suspend their voyages in the Red Sea.
