US announces destruction of 12 Houthi UAVs
The US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that a total of 12 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) belonging to the Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen were destroyed yesterday in three separate operations in the Gulf of Aden.

As the Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen continue their attacks in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden, US forces are also continuing their operations against the Houthis.
In a statement released today, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) said, "At 10:30 a.m. yesterday, the USS Carney (DDG 64) warship engaged and destroyed 1 unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) in the Gulf of Aden. No injuries or damage were reported."
THEY POSE A THREAT TO THE US NAVY
The statement further noted that a strike was carried out against 4 UAVs prepared for launch at 4:40 p.m. on the same day, stating, "US forces identified the UAVs in Houthi-controlled areas of Yemen and determined that they presented an imminent threat to merchant vessels and US Navy ships in the region.
Consequently, US forces destroyed the UAVs in self-defense," the statement said.
Finally, it was reported that 7 more UAVs were struck at 9:20 p.m., with the statement noting that the US warship USS Laboon and F/A-18 jets from the Dwight D. Eisenhower carrier strike group shot down the 7 UAVs over the Red Sea, adding, "No injuries or damage were reported.
These actions will protect freedom of navigation and make international waters safer and more secure for US Navy ships and merchant vessels," the statement concluded.
