US announces humanitarian aid decision for Gaza

US President Joe Biden, who has frequently expressed his support for the Tel Aviv administration since the conflict between Israel and Hamas began on October 7, 2023, has announced his decision regarding Gaza.

Speaking while hosting Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni at the White House, Biden announced that humanitarian aid would be airdropped into the Gaza Strip, which Israel continues to attack and where it restricts the entry of aid, in the coming days.

"TRAGIC AND HORRIFYING"

Regarding the Gazan civilians who were shot and killed by Israel while waiting for aid, Joe Biden stated, "The incident in northern Gaza while (Palestinians) were trying to access humanitarian aid is tragic and horrifying. The loss of life there is heartbreaking."

"WE MUST DO MORE"

Stating that innocent people were "caught in the war" while struggling to find food, Biden said, "You saw the situation they faced while trying to reach aid. We must do more, and as the US, we will."

Biden said, "In the coming days, we will join Jordan in beginning to airdrop humanitarian aid (into Gaza)."

It was also noted that Biden mistakenly said "Ukraine" instead of Gaza in his sentence regarding the aid they would airdrop to Gaza.

Biden added that they are continuing their discussions with the Israeli side to ensure more humanitarian aid can be sent to the region.
