US announces ISIS leader Abu Yusuf killed in airstrike in Syria

The US Central Command (CENTCOM) reported that 2 people, including ISIS leader Abu Yusuf, were killed in an airstrike in the Deir ez-Zor province of Syria.

In a statement released by the US Central Command (CENTCOM), it was reported that 2 people, including ISIS leader Abu Yusuf, were killed in an airstrike in the Deir ez-Zor province.

The statement said, "This airstrike is part of CENTCOM's ongoing commitment, along with partners in the region, to disrupt and neutralize terrorists' efforts to plan, organize, and carry out attacks against civilians and military personnel. This strike was conducted in an area previously controlled by the Syrian regime and the Russians."

"WE WILL AGGRESSIVELY TARGET"

CENTCOM Commander General Michael Erik Kurilla emphasized that the US will not allow ISIS to take advantage of the current situation in Syria and regroup, stating, "ISIS has the intention to break out more than 8,000 of its members currently held in facilities in Syria. We will aggressively target these leaders and operatives, including those attempting to conduct operations outside of Syria."
