US announces that Sweden's NATO accession protocol has entered into force
The US Department of State has announced that the protocol regarding Sweden's accession to the alliance, which was most recently approved by the Turkish Grand National Assembly and the Hungarian Parliament, has entered into force.

In the protocol, which states that the US has fulfilled its obligations, the US Department of State included the following statements:
"On March 7, 2024, the conditions for entry into force provided for in Article II of the Protocol to the North Atlantic Treaty on the Accession of the Kingdom of Sweden were met"
"WILL MAKE OUR ALLIES EVEN SAFER"
In a statement released by the White House, US President Joe Biden said regarding Sweden's NATO membership: "Sweden becoming a NATO Ally will make the United States and our Allies even safer."
Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson, who traveled to Washington to deliver the final documents for his country's NATO membership, stated, "Sweden will soon be the 32nd member of NATO."
In a post on the social media platform X, Swedish Prime Minister Kristersson said, "NATO Secretary General Stoltenberg just informed me that all NATO member states have accepted our accession protocol and invited Sweden to accede to the North Atlantic Treaty. Sweden will soon be the 32nd member of NATO."
