US calls on European NATO member states to take responsibility
US Department of Defense officials have called on European NATO member states to assume responsibility for NATO's conventional defense capabilities by 2027, warning that the US may decide not to participate in certain NATO defense coordination mechanisms if these criteria are not met.

Discussions regarding the sharing of defense responsibilities between the US and European NATO memberstates continue.According to a report by the UK-based news agency Reuters, citing US officials, representatives from the US Department of Defense (Pentagon) met with European delegations this week during a meeting focused on NATO policies. At the meeting, it was stated that Pentagon officials requested that European NATO member states take on a significant portion of NATO's conventional defensecapabilities by the year2027.responsibility in the part of takingit was emphasized that a call was made.
