US Director of National Intelligence Gabbard announces she will step down
US Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard has announced that she will step down from her post as of June 30 due to her husband's cancer diagnosis. US President Donald Trump stated, "Sadly, after doing a great job, Tulsi Gabbard will be leaving the administration on June 30. Tulsi has done a tremendous job and we will miss her."

A new name has been added to the list of cabinet members departing the US government. US Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard has announced her resignation from her post.
According to reports in the US press, Gabbard stated in a letter sent to President Donald Trump that her husband, Abraham Williams, had been diagnosed with a rare form of bone cancer.
In her letter, Gabbard wrote, "I am deeply grateful for the trust you have placed in me and for the opportunity to lead the Office of the Director of National Intelligence for the past year and a half. Unfortunately, I must resign from my position effective June 30, 2026. My husband, Abraham, was recently diagnosed with an extremely rare form of bone cancer. He will face serious challenges in the coming weeks and months. At this point, I need to step away from public service to be by his side and fully support him in this fight."
Trump: "Tulsi has done a tremendous job and we will miss her"
In a statement regarding the matter on his social media account, Trump said, "Sadly, after doing a great job, Tulsi Gabbard will be leaving the administration on June 30."
Trump added, "Her dear husband, Abraham, was recently diagnosed with a rare form of bone cancer, and Gabbard is completely right to want to be by his side and support him in this difficult fight to help him regain his health. I have no doubt that he will be better than ever very soon. Tulsi has done a tremendous job and we will miss her."
The US President also announced that Deputy Director of National Intelligence Aaron Lukas will be appointed as acting director to fill the vacancy left by Gabbard.
Recently departed cabinet members
Last April, Trump dismissed Attorney General Pam Bondi, who had been under pressure due to the handling of matters related to the American billionaire Jeffrey Epstein, who was accused of establishing a child sex trafficking ring.
In March, Trump had dismissed Kristi Noem, who led the Department of Homeland Security, following nationwide debates over the aggressive immigration policies implemented in cities across the US.
