Navy spokesperson Lieutenant Jackie Parashar stated in a statement regarding the incident that the crash occurred around 09:50, and the pilot, who managed to eject, was rescued alive around 11:20 and taken to the hospital.
Parashar noted that the crashed aircraft was assigned to the Strike Fighter Squadron 83, based at Naval Air Station Oceana in Virginia Beach.
It was announced that the wreckage of the aircraft has not yet been recovered from the sea and that an investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.
