US finds court 'lacks jurisdiction' over Netanyahu

White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre evaluated the agenda regarding the ICC's potential arrest warrant for Netanyahu during her daily press briefing.

Jean-Pierre stated that the US position regarding the ICC's authority has not changed and that they do not believe the court has the jurisdiction to rule on Israeli officials.

The US spokesperson argued that the ICC does not have jurisdiction regarding either Hamas's October 7 attacks or the Israeli administration's attacks in Gaza, stating, "Our view on the ICC investigation is clear and consistent. We do not support it and we do not believe that they have jurisdiction in this area."

It was alleged that the potential ICC arrest warrant for Israeli officials due to attacks on the Gaza Strip was discussed during a phone call held yesterday between Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu and US President Joe Biden.

In a report on the Israeli "Walla" news website, it was stated that Israeli officials have become increasingly concerned over the past two weeks that the ICC is preparing to issue arrest warrants for Netanyahu, Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, and Israeli Chief of General Staff Herzi Halevi.

Citing two unnamed Israeli officials, the report noted that Netanyahu had conveyed his concerns regarding a potential ICC arrest warrant to Biden.

It was reported that during the call, Netanyahu asked Biden for help to prevent a potential ICC arrest warrant.
