US issues departure order for two diplomatic missions in Iraq

US TRAVEL ADVISORY
The US Department of State announced that it has raised the travel advisory for Iraq to Level 4, warning US citizens against traveling to the country. The statement noted that the advisory was issued due to terrorism, kidnapping, armed conflict, civil unrest, and the limited capacity of the US Mission to provide support to US citizens.
INSTRUCTIONS TO CONSULATE STAFF
The statement further indicated that due to increased security threats against US personnel and interests, non-essential staff and their families at the Baghdad Embassy and Erbil Consulate were ordered to leave the country last Friday.
