The US-based news site Axios reported that the Gaza Peace Council, tasked with overseeing the administration of the Gaza Strip in the post-Hamas era, plans to hold its first meeting in Washington on February 19.
THE MEETING VENUE IS THE US INSTITUTE OF PEACE
According to the report by Axios, which cites a US official and diplomats from four countries involved in the council, the White House envisions the meeting taking place at the United States Institute of Peace in Washington.
FUNDS WILL BE RAISED
The report stated that the gathering will also serve as a "fundraising conference" to contribute to the reconstruction of Gaza. It was noted that the meeting's agenda will include accelerating the implementation of the second phase of the ceasefire agreement reached in Gaza. On the other hand, it was emphasized that the plans are still in the early stages and may be subject to change.
It was also reported that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is scheduled to meet with Trump at the White House on February 18, one day before the meeting.
