US narrowly avoids another plane crash

In Chicago, a passenger plane narrowly avoided a collision after coming face-to-face with a private jet on the runway.

According to CNN, a Southwest Airlines passenger plane that was preparing to land in Chicago came face-to-face with a private jet that had already landed on the runway.

The passenger plane narrowly avoided a crash by performing a go-around and subsequently landed at Chicago Midway International Airport.

UNITED AIRLINES PASSENGER PLANE MAKES EMERGENCY LANDING

According to a report by the New York Post (NYP), a United Airlines Boeing 757-200 passenger plane took off from Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey around 06:00 local time, scheduled to land in Las Vegas.

The plane, carrying 176 passengers and 6 crew members, returned to the airport it departed from and made an emergency landing due to a mechanical failure after remaining in the air for 1 hour.

There were no injuries in the incident.

A SIMILAR INCIDENT ON THE SAME DAY

In the US state of Georgia, passengers were evacuated after the cabin of a Delta Air Lines plane filled with smoke.

In a statement from the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), it was reported that a Delta Air Lines Boeing 717 passenger plane returned to the airport following its departure from Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport due to "haze or smoke" observed inside the cabin.
