US National Security Advisor Sullivan: Gaza ceasefire deal could happen this week

US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan reported that a ceasefire in Gaza is very close. Sullivan announced that they are very close to a ceasefire in Gaza and that an agreement could be reached this week.

Sullivan stated that they provide strong support to Israel in the Middle East and that "enemies like Iran" have been significantly weakened.

Speaking very hopefully about the ceasefire process in Gaza, Sullivan said, "We are very close to a ceasefire agreement, the deal could be completed this week. I am not making a promise or a prediction, but we will work to make this happen."

Sullivan said that the ceasefire agreement in question would make it possible for hostages to return home, for a significant amount of aid to enter Gaza, and for a more positive atmosphere that could pave the way for a political process thereafter.

QATAR EMIR DISCUSSED CEASEFIRE NEGOTIATIONS

Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani discussed the ceasefire negotiations in Gaza with Hamas officials and a US delegation.

According to the statement made by the Qatari Amiri Diwan, Sheikh Tamim received Hamas officials led by Khalil al-Hayya, a member of the Hamas Political Bureau, who came for the ceasefire negotiations in the Gaza Strip, at the Lusail Palace in the capital, Doha.

During the meeting, the latest developments in the negotiations aimed at achieving a long-term ceasefire in the Gaza Strip were evaluated.

Sheikh Tamim once again emphasized the State of Qatar's firm stance on the justice of the Palestinian cause, the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, and the establishment of an independent Palestinian State with East Jerusalem as its capital based on the 1967 borders.

US DELEGATION RECEIVED

Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani also received Brett McGurk, the White House National Security Council Coordinator for the Middle East and North Africa, and Steve Witkoff, whom Trump announced he would appoint as the US Special Envoy to the Middle East.

During the meeting at the Lusail Palace, the situation in the Gaza Strip and the occupied Palestinian territories, as well as the latest developments in the Gaza ceasefire negotiations, were discussed.

On the other hand, Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani held a phone call with US President Joe Biden.

During the call, strategic relations between the two friendly countries and issues of common interest were evaluated.

Furthermore, the latest developments in the Gaza Strip and the occupied Palestinian territories, joint mediation efforts to end the war in Gaza, and regional and international developments were also discussed.
