US official Sullivan: “Conflict in the Middle East could spread”
US official Jake Sullivan warned that the conflict in the Middle East could spread, stating that Washington is working to find safe passage for Americans in Gaza to leave the region.

White House National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan noted in a statement to CBS television that he is focused on the population leaving Gaza having access to food, water, and shelter.
Stating that there is a risk of this conflict spreading and a risk of a second front opening in the north, Sullivan used the phrase “and of course, the involvement of Iran.”
As reported by euronews, Sullivan said that America is concerned about Hezbollah in Lebanon and proxy forces.
Noting that the majority of the people in Gaza have nothing to do with Hamas, Sullivan stated that Gazans deserve safety and respect.
Jake Sullivan also stated that America is not interfering in Israel’s military planning; however, he noted that they have called on Israeli officials in discussions to comply with international law and to recognize democratic rights.
LATEST SITUATION IN THE REGION
Officials in Gaza state that more than 2,300 people have lost their lives and approximately 10,000 people have been injured in Israel’s airstrikes on the region following Hamas’s attacks. Hospitals in the region are trying to continue their operations under very difficult conditions due to the high number of casualties and injured.
