US President Trump's 'thank you' message to President Erdoğan: He called him 'the power itself' in quotation marks

US President Donald Trump has made waves in the political agenda with his latest post on his personal social media account.

Trump thanked AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan without specifying any context.

In his post, immediately following the thank-you message, Trump shared a text filled with striking expressions in quotation marks.

US President Trump included the following in quotation marks: "President Trump is the leader the world has been waiting for for centuries. He doesn't just talk about power, he is the power itself."

The post did not include details on whether the statement in quotation marks referring to Trump belonged to Erdoğan, or exactly why Trump was thanking Erdoğan.

This remarkable move by the US President has once again brought the notable rapprochement observed between the two leaders recently to the forefront.

AKP Chairman and President Erdoğan has also frequently referred to the US President as "my friend Trump" in his public statements, drawing attention to the warm atmosphere in bilateral relations.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Donald Trump and President Erdoğan held a phone call on May 20. The Presidency's Directorate of Communications stated that the call covered Turkey-US bilateral relations as well as regional and global issues.

The statement noted that during the call, Erdoğan expressed that he "viewed the decision to extend the ceasefire during the conflict process in the region as a positive development, believed that a reasonable solution to contentious issues was possible, and that support for constructive initiatives would continue."
