US President Donald Trump said he would announce a 25 percent tariff on steel and aluminum imports.

Trump made the remarks to members of the press on Air Force One while traveling from Florida to New Orleans to attend the Super Bowl.

Speaking to reporters on Air Force One while en route from Florida to New Orleans for the Super Bowl event, Trump said, "A 25 percent tariff will be applied to all steel coming into the US." He stated that the same tax would also apply to aluminum.

Emphasizing that the taxes would also cover steel and aluminum coming from Canada and Mexico, Trump stated that he would announce additional tariffs based on the principle of reciprocity on Tuesday or Wednesday. In his assessment of the matter, he said, "If they charge us 130 percent tax while we charge them nothing, this will not remain this way."
