Emphasizing that there are still points awaiting resolution between the parties, Vance said, "There are a couple of issues regarding the nuclear matter: the highly enriched stockpiles and the enrichment issue. At the very least, we think they have been negotiating in good faith so far, and we are making some progress."
According to Vance, although the US and Iran continue to exchange views on some issues in the talks, they are nearing the end of the agreement. The Vice President assessed, "We are getting closer to a point where we can put these issues on the table and resolve them, but we need to make a little more progress for that. I cannot guarantee that we will achieve this, but I am quite optimistic about it at the moment."
It was also underscored that President Donald Trump could reach a stage where he could approve a draft agreement to be reached; however, it was shared that this has not yet been finalized. No clear statement was made regarding the removal of Iran's enriched uranium stockpiles from the country. Vance stated that this detail is still being discussed and that a solution may take time.
On the other hand, some reports in the US press, citing anonymous officials, claimed that a short-term 60-day agreement had been reached between Iran and the US. It was reported that within the scope of this interim agreement, the Strait of Hormuz would be opened to the free passage of commercial vessels, and the US would lift the naval blockades it imposes on Iranian ports. It was learned that final approval from Washington is awaited for the implementation of the aforementioned agreement text.
