Following the attacks launched by Israel on the Gaza Strip on October 7, attacks on bases housing US troops in Iraq and Syria have increased.
US Department of Defense Spokesperson Brigadier General Patrick Ryder stated in a briefing that US troops in Iraq and Syria have been targeted 27 times since October 17.
300 MORE TROOPS TO BE DEPLOYED
Holding Iranian-backed armed groups responsible for the attacks, Ryder announced that the US will send 300 more troops to the Middle East. While not providing details on where the troops will be stationed, Ryder stated that they will not be deployed to Israel.
Ryder expressed that the purpose of the additional military deployment is to support regional deterrence efforts and enhance the security of US troops.
