US terminates clean energy projects
The US Department of Energy has announced the termination of 24 clean energy projects that had been allocated more than 3.7 billion dollars in public funding.

In a statement, the department reported that following a review, it was determined that these projects did not contribute to the energy needs of the American people, were not economically sustainable, and did not offer sufficient returns for the public.
The statement noted that 24 projects, which had been allocated more than 3.7 billion dollars in public funding, have been terminated.
The statement further indicated that 16 of the 24 cancelled projects were signed between November 5, 2024, when the US presidential election took place, and January 20, when US President Donald Trump assumed office. It was stated that the projects were primarily aimed at providing funding for initiatives focused on carbon capture and reducing carbon emissions in industry.
In the statement, US Secretary of Energy Chris Wright criticized the former Joe Biden administration for failing to conduct a comprehensive financial review before spending billions of dollars in public funds.
Emphasizing that the Trump administration is exercising the necessary due diligence to make the best use of taxpayer money, Wright stated that by terminating the 24 projects that had been allocated resources, they are acting in the best interest of the American people.
