US to provide over $700 million in aid to Ukraine

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha held a joint press conference with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy, who are in Kyiv to attend the 4th Crimea Platform Leaders' Summit.

Sybiha stated that they evaluated developments regarding the ongoing war in his country with the visiting ministers.

Noting that steps to strengthen Ukraine's defense capabilities were discussed during the meeting, Sybiha said, "The main topic of our conversation with our colleagues today is the strengthening of our state's defense capabilities. Air defense, F-16 (fighter jets), artillery shells, unmanned aerial vehicles, armored vehicles, and other equipment—everything used for victory."

Sybiha also emphasized the importance of increasing investments for local production and the procurement of weapons for the Ukrainian army, stating, "This is a way to rapidly increase military aid to Ukraine and preserve the resources of our allies."

UKRAINE'S LONG-RANGE WEAPONS REQUEST DISCUSSED

Blinken stated that he received information about the latest developments on the front line from Ukrainian officials as part of his contacts in Kyiv.

Noting that they also discussed with Ukrainian leaders the issue of permission requested by Ukraine for the use of long-range weapons provided by Western countries, Blinken said he would convey this information to US President Joe Biden.

Blinken noted that Biden and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer will meet in Washington on Friday, September 13, and that they may also discuss Ukraine's requests to use long-range weapons.

Furthermore, Blinken announced that they will provide a total of $717 million in aid to Ukraine, consisting of 325 million for the repair of the energy system damaged by Russian attacks, 290 million for humanitarian aid, and 102 million for demining efforts.

UK TO PROVIDE 3 BILLION POUNDS IN AID

UK Foreign Secretary Lammy also stated that they will continue to provide military aid to Ukraine every year, saying, "I am proud of Prime Minister Starmer's commitment to providing the 3 billion (pounds) in military aid you need each year in your struggle."

Lammy stated that the UK has also accelerated the supply of military equipment to Ukraine, primarily air defense missiles, equipment needed for F-16 fighter jets, AS-90 self-propelled artillery systems, military boots, and naval weapons.

Foreign Secretary Lammy said, "By the end of the year, we will also send additional air defense missiles, tens of thousands of additional artillery shells, and more armored personnel carriers to Ukraine."

Lammy also reminded that the British government announced a 600 million pound aid package for Ukraine today.

ZELENSKYY RECEIVED LAMMY AND BLINKEN

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy received UK Foreign Secretary Lammy and US Secretary of State Blinken in Kyiv.

In a post on his Telegram account, Zelenskyy stated that he met with Lammy and Blinken, saying, "All important issues were discussed. It is important that Ukraine's arguments are heard. This applies both to long-range weapons (use) and to providing assistance to military units on the front line, as well as the general strategy for approaching a just peace."

Zelenskyy thanked the US and the UK for their support of his country.
