US 'veto on ceasefire' decision pleases Netanyahu

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, in a televised speech, evaluated the US veto of the draft resolution at the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) that called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza for humanitarian reasons.

"I GREATLY APPRECIATE THE CORRECT STANCE TAKEN"

The Israeli Prime Minister stated, "I greatly appreciate the correct stance the US has taken at the UN Security Council. Other countries must also understand that it is impossible to support the elimination of Hamas on one hand, and on the other hand, call for an end to the war that aims to eliminate Hamas."

The Israeli Prime Minister added, "We will continue our just war to eliminate Hamas and we will achieve the set goals."

WHAT HAPPENED?

The US vetoed the draft resolution yesterday at the UNSC that demanded an immediate humanitarian ceasefire in Gaza.

The draft resolution, co-sponsored by the United Arab Emirates and more than 90 countries including Turkey, was voted on at an emergency session held at the UNSC.

While the UK abstained from the vote, the other 13 members voted "yes" on the resolution.
