US Vice President Vance deletes post referring to 'Armenian genocide'
US Vice President James David Vance has deleted a social media post made during his visit to Armenia in which he referred to the 1915 events as the so-called "Armenian genocide."

US Vice President James David Vance visited the Tsitsernakaberd Memorial in the capital, Yerevan, today as part of his official contacts in Armenia.
In a post shared on his social media account regarding the visit, Vance used the term "Armenian genocide," adopting the political terminology of the Armenian government regarding the 1915 events.
Shortly after, Vice President Vance deleted the post and replaced it by reposting a statement from Press Secretary Taylor Van Kirk regarding the visit, which did not include the term "genocide."
Before departing Armenia, when asked by reporters why he visited the memorial in Yerevan, Vance replied, "We will also be visiting some important sites in Azerbaijan tomorrow.
When we spoke with the Armenians, they told us this was a very important place. I am the first Vice President to visit Armenia, and they requested that we visit this site."
Vance and his wife traveled to Azerbaijan following their meetings in Armenia.
