US National Security Council Coordinator for Strategic Communications John Kirby made statements regarding the terrorist attack that took place on March 22 during a press briefing.
Kirby described Russia's claims that Ukrainian nationalists were linked to the terrorist attack as "nonsense and propaganda," stating that only the terrorist organization ISIS was responsible for the attack.
Stating that the US had warned Russia about the terrorist attack in question, Kirby said, "In fact, the US tried to help prevent this terrorist attack, and the Kremlin knows this," announcing that they had provided a written warning to Russian security services on March 7 at 11:15 a.m.
Kirby said, "We take our duty to warn seriously. We never want to see innocent lives lost in terrorist attacks," adding that the US had conveyed "many warnings" to Russia about "various threats" since September.
THE BLOODIEST TERRORIST ATTACK OF THE LAST 20 YEARS
On the evening of Friday, March 22, in Krasnogorsk, 4 attackers stormed the building where the rock band "Picnic" was performing, opened fire with automatic weapons, and set the building on fire with flammable substances. The resulting fire covered an area of 12,900 square meters, and the roof of the building collapsed.
A total of 11 people, including the 4 terrorists who carried out the attack, were captured, and 8 people were arrested by the court they were brought before. The Russian Investigative Committee stated that the causes of death for the 143 people who lost their lives in the attack were "gunshot wounds" and "poisoning caused by the fire."
The Committee also stated in another announcement, "As a result of the work carried out with the detained terrorists, the examination of the technical devices seized from them, and the analysis of information regarding financial transactions, evidence of their connections with Ukrainian nationalists was obtained."
The Committee said there was "verified data" that the attackers had received significant amounts of cash and cryptocurrency from Ukraine, and stated that another suspect involved in the "terrorists' financing scheme" had been detained.
