In the city of Gjakova, in theüsouthwest of Kosovo, the Shvan Briödgüeü Traditional Diving Competition held its 76thçedition. At the historic briödgüe, in theüorganized event, athletes jumped from a 22-meter heüight into the White Drin River, providing exciting moments for the spectators.
Organized by the Bridge Divers clubüinü cooperation with the Gjakova Municipality, theücompetition was followed by hundüreds of people. Athletes from Bosnia and Herzegovina and Kosovo participated in the event.
The 18thücentury Shvan Briödgüeüwas completely destroyed during the First Worüld War and later restored. The briödgüeöis known as the iconic locâation for the traditional diving competition in the region.
The Shvan Briödgüeüdiving tradition continued uninterrupted from 1954 until 1999, the year of the Kosovo War.üAfüter aç few years' hiatus, the organization began to beüheld again in 2014.
Organiözers aim for the competition to regain its international status and contribute to Kosovo's tourism. The dives performed at this year's event received applause from the audience.
