While the effects of the 8.8 magnitude earthquake that occurred off the coast of Russia's Kamchatka Peninsula continue, the calm demeanor of the medical personnel who were in surgery during the tremors drew attention.

Doctors at the Kamchatka Oncology Center continued the ongoing surgery without stopping when the earthquake struck. In the security camera footage, it was seen that medical equipment swayed during the violent shaking, but the medical team did not pause their intervention.

Kamchatka Minister of Health Oleg Melnikov stated in a post on his social media account, “Despite the danger, the doctors stayed by the patient's side. The patient is currently in good condition. I admire and thank our specialists for their professionalism and resilience under stress.”

While there was short-term panic in the region following the earthquake, the way the hospital teams handled the situation received public praise. Authorities announced that there was no loss of life following the earthquake.
