A fire that broke out at the Atyrau Oil Refinery in the city of Atyrau, Kazakhstan, has been brought under control. Authorities reported that there were no casualties in the incident.
It was stated that the fire began on Tuesday in the sedimentation pool of the closed-type mechanical treatment facility. According to the statement, no work was being carried out at the facility at the time of the incident. It was noted that oil sludge in the sedimentation pool had caught fire.
The Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kazakhstan announced that due to the nature of the facility, firefighting teams were dispatched to the scene with the highest level of response.
Following the extinguishing efforts, which involved approximately 65 personnel and 19 vehicles, the fire was first brought under control and was completely extinguished shortly thereafter.
