A fire that broke out at a hotel construction site in the South Korean port city of Busan has led to a major tragedy. The fire started for reasons yet to be determined at the construction site of the Banyan Tree Hotel in Busan.
Firefighting and medical teams were quickly dispatched to the scene and worked to bring the blaze under control. As a result of the fire, 6 workers lost their lives, while 25 others were injured.
South Korean Acting President Choi Sang-mok ordered the mobilization of all available resources to extinguish the fire. Following the incident, authorities stated that the fire was likely caused by insulation materials used at the construction site. It was also reported that there are concerns about a potential increase in the death toll. An investigation into the incident has been launched.
